Once the former capital of California for 13 months, Benicia is a waterfront town located in Solano County. It is one of the top 30 safest suburbs in the Bay Area and ranked #41 safest city in California. Its population is just under 30,000.
Benicia is divided into four sections: Southampton, Industrial Park, the East Side, and the West Side. Single-family dwellings and condominiums are in the Southampton area. Those seeking an older home charm, can find them in the East and West sides of the town. Also, artists can find live-work spaces at the East side of town in the Arsenal.
Benicia has a capitol state historic park, state recreation area, marina, and several parks. The city holds activities and events all year round. From the hillsides to the beaches, and even a marshland area that is a favorite spot for local fishers, there is so much to see and do in Benicia.
